Back to the physio
Not a lot happening on the training front, although I'm hitting the weights at the moment for another little side-project I've got on the go.
Saw my physio, Susie Bond, for the first time in ages. Didn't realise I hadn't seen her since I'd broken down late last year, but her disappointment was lessened by my bringing in all of my scans for her to look at and a final explanation as to what the problems had been, plus the good news that her fear that the right hip joint may have been (Darth Vader voice) permanently damaged (/(Darth Vader voice) was unfounded.
After going through the data, she had a bit of a feel of where everything was sitting in the pelvis and upper legs. The good news is everything's sitting pretty much where it should be, with no obvious imbalances.
I went through a couple of one legged squats shows the right leg wobble hopeless out of track, with the knee twisted in. We had a bit of a chat, and I mentioned my infamous left arm flare (refer my profile photo), and then reasoning it through thought about the flare compensating for something happening in the lower right leg.
So, now we think we have a working hypothesis on how all this happened. We think the left arm flare compensates for the lower right leg describing an outer arc at the top of the cycle into footstrike, which is placing pressure on the upper right leg and putting a twist through the pelvis, or more specifically the pubic symphisis.
We went through some very basic pelvis stability type exercises (so easy even I can do them!) which I've done a couple of times already and felt some benefit from. I'm fine to ride Darth, but I'm not to stand up in the saddle, which is a PITA around Gladesville - suspect my rides will be based around Centennial Park for a while.
Back to her in two weeks for an evaluation of progress, but I feel like I'm starting to get back on track...
