Prelude to return

Here we are at the start of December!

Quick update:
- osteitis pubis is slowly improving. It's still not fantastic with the odd bad day, but it's notably better
- we have a new kitten, Beatrice. She's a domestic shorthair, but apparently of the Friesian variety, as her markings resemble those of a Friesian cow. I have a theory that she's made of the left overs of a production run of black and white cats, where they had enough bits left to make up one more cat. One black ear, one white ear, white body with large black spots, black tail with white tip. She is a very active and funny little thing, though.
- EliseS finally made an honest man of me on November 17. There's no truth that I specifically put the date here so I had a handy reference in case I forgot. That date again, Friday, November 17, 2006
- some may know that I had a second blog going detailling some of the hilarity of cycling on Sydney roads, specifically http://vatsridetoandfromwork.blogspot.com/ - this has been reactivated, for reasons I shall outline below. Just be aware, I tend to be a little more explicit in my commentary there (it's not called the Cycling Hate blog for nothing).

To be frank, I've let the whole exercise and diet thing go since mid-September, and it's starting to show. I'm anticipating returning (gently) to running in late December, and realised it might be prudent to get off my fat backside and do something about. So, I finally got some road tyres for the mountain bike, and resumed riding to work today.

In hand with that, I joined the gym downstairs from work (not a certain well known chain that everyone thinks of Fir$t). We don't have showers at work, and I'm not going to spongebath myself in the bathrooms here. The theory is that the money saved from not taking public transport will more than cover the membership fee. Since I'm going to the gym anyway, it's a very good opportunity to do my core work (something I've always been really poor at doing). Today was the first day, and I feel better for it.

So, that's the news.
