Update
Sorry for the delay in updating.
Pain the top right leg hasn't gone away, if anything, it's been worsening.
Went and saw Cr Brizza a few weeks ago who suspected bursitis and referred me to a doctor he works with. Saw that doctor last week.
After a fairly thorough examination at both his hands and those of a doctor being taught his specialisation, current thinking is:
- osteitis pubis has basically cleared (this was tested by pressing on the pubis, and I didn't spontaneously combust..)
- current suspects are either a psoas or labral tear.
I've sent over the reports from the scans I had done in October last year, and the doctor will call me regarding where we go from here. The three potential options are:
- if it's a minor tear, take a year off running (swimming only), it should heal itself
- if it's a moderate tear, a possible cortisone injection into the affected area, under a CT scan (it would need to go in quite deep into the joint)
- if it's more than that, potential surgery to repair the tendons
None are particularly attractive options, but at this point, the surgery looks attractive, if only to get some friggin' resolution on this. Gah.
Good luck to those running Canberra this Sunday. I was hoping to head down and watch, but extended periods in the car seem to aggravate the injury, plus we've got a bit happening on the home front. Have faith in your training....
